Would You Like to Interact?
Single Channel Video 7:10, Monitor, Electronics, ABS Plastic, LED Light, 28 x 17 x 2 in
Would You Like to Interact? reflects the concept of existence and activation within the digital world. The human figure is likened to a computer in binary mode — dormant and unresponsive until an interaction occurs with a push of a button, and a hand wave. This activation is brief, with the artist quickly returning to a standby state: technically alive, but disengaged. The piece examines the nature of presence in the digital realm, where interaction on social media often feels like a prerequisite for existence. Without it, one may feel suspended in isolation, or a void. It contrasts the bright, engaging light of the internet with the darkness of being outside its sphere, highlighting the dependence on interaction for a sense of presence and life.
